Anne Mayoral | Program Director
Anne is a rocket scientist turned toy and exhibit designer, with a passion for hands-on STEAM education. She believes strongly in “learning through play” and encourages learners to get their hands dirty as a means for developing intuition, a deep understanding of the world, and comfort with making mistakes. Anne strives to promote diversity in engineering and increase access for underserved and underrepresented populations; cultivate curiosity and appreciation for the natural world; create safe, supportive and welcoming learning environments; and build capacity through learner-led, inquiry-based opportunities and empowered making. Anne earned a B.S. and M.S. in aerospace engineering from the University of Texas at Austin and a B.A. in industrial design from the Academy of Art University.

Anqi Tao | Program Assistant
My name is Anqi, and I’m currently a sophomore studying EECS and Bioengineering at UC Berkeley. In my free time, I love reading books (especially Korean & Chinese literature), playing guitar, and doing photography while traveling. When I was in high school, I had the opportunity to work on many hands-on engineering projects, so I have a decent bit of experience in CAD, Arduino, and C/Python/Java programming. I’m also involved in the Jacobs Makerspace Student Council and have completed training in 3D manufacturing and laser cutting. Having worked as a STEM instructor for many age groups, I’m very excited to be part of GiE, where I can continue inspiring girls from non-traditional or underrepresented backgrounds to pursue engineering.

Ryann Fineberg | Program Assistant
Hello! My name is Ryann and I am a second year Industrial Engineering student, originally from Toronto, Canada. In high school, I was really interested in environmental policy, which eventually inspired me to pursue engineering to help build climate solutions directly. In my free time, I love to run, swim, and play guitar! I’m really excited to be part of the GiE team this year, and hope to show young students that no matter what their interests or passions are, there is a place for them in engineering.
“GiE provides such a unique and welcoming environment for all the campers and CITs. I had such an enjoyable time attending camp this week and was so amazed by all the hard work and creativity the campers put into their projects!”
